Assisted Living is a facility provided to the adults who need help with everyday tasks. They offer supervision or assistance with activities of daily living, coordination of services by outside health care providers, and monitoring of resident activities to help to ensure the health, safety and well-being for the adults. These facilities provide ongoing help with personal care to the adults along with their typical daily activities. Assisted Living facilities are less expensive as compared to the nursing home care. They offer through the day supervision and an array of support services, with more privacy, space, and dignity than many nursing homes.

Some of the Assisted Living facilities are a part of retirement communities, but others are near nursing homes so that people can be moved easily if they need change. The adults may require help with dressing, bathing, eating or using the bathroom, but they do not require full-time nursing care. These places provide assistance in the administration or supervision of medication or personal care services which is given by a trained staff person. These facilities provide care and services, and promote independence and dignity in the seniors.
